World Collage Day is 9 May 2026
World Collage Day is an annual, international celebration of collage on the Second Saturday of May. Initiated by Kolaj Magazine in 2018, we invited artists and art venues to hold events on that day to celebrate collage. World Collage Day is about artists connecting across borders against a global context of entrenchment and separation. And the day is about an art medium that excels at bringing different things together to create new forms and new ways of thinking. Ric Kasini Kadour, the editor of Kolaj Magazine, writes, “We created World Collage Day because we wanted to honour this community of artists and to remind the world what a spirit of cooperation, mutual support, and creativity can look like.”

2026 World Collage Day Poster Artist
Kolaj Magazine is pleased to announce the 2026 World Collage Day Poster artist is Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada collage artist Jessa Dupuis.
Living and working in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island, Canada, Dupuis creates “art that allows people a moment in time to laugh, cry, wonder, and connect with their own narratives in her abstract visual storytelling.” Her art is rooted in a philosophy of persistent joy and beauty that works like a salve in these troubled times. “People tend to think we’re not allowed to have joy or we’re not allowed to find a spark of something good because everything is so bad. There’s a lot of bad, but if you take a look, there’s a lot of good. That’s where art is important. It’s not frivolous,” said Dupuis. “For all the artists that are out there doing what they do, and carrying on, and trying to bring sparks of joy to people, they are doing a great job, and it is very important. And I think a lot of people don’t even realize that subconsciously, it is important to them.”

In honor of World Collage Day, 9 May 2026, Kolaj Magazine is releasing a special edition of the magazine. The Special Edition is full of Cut-Out Pages and stories from inspiring collage artists. The printed magazine also includes an interview with 2026 World Collage Day Poster Artist Jessa Dupuis.
Those who purchase the Special Edition before 9 May 2026 will also receive a World Collage Day 2026 poster and a set of World Collage Day postcards designed by the poster artist.
The World Collage Day 2026 Special Edition ships in April 2026. Note: The World Collage Day 2026 Special Edition is not included in a regular subscription to Kolaj Magazine.

We will introduce the 2026 World Collage Day Poster Artist Jessa Dupuis from Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada, who will speak about the concept behind the poster and the series of postcards she designed for the day. Bring and share your ideas, questions, and thoughts about your own plans for World Collage Day 2026. The virtual event is free. RSVP required.
How You Can Get Involved
Organize an Event or Project
We invite artists, art centers, museums, galleries, schools, and communities to celebrate World Collage Day by hosting events and projects that bring communities together. Ideas include collage making meet-ups, docent-led tours of collage in a museum or gallery, activities for kids, slideshows or talks that appreciate collage’s role in contemporary art and art history, exhibitions of collage, and more. Consider a project that manifests the spirit of World Collage Day.
For artists, planning and hosting a World Collage Day event is an opportunity to build a relationship with institutions in your community. For institutions, World Collage Day is an opportunity to meet artists in your community and to engage with your audience.
