Hey Kolaj Artists,
In Kolaj #28, we wrote, “In its most basic state, fragments of printed matter glued to a substrate, collage is small. The immediacy and intimacy of the medium is one of its points of attraction, but these are qualities which, theoretically speaking, puts it at odds with the broader ecosystem of contemporary art which privileges big gestures and spectacle. From installation work to mural making to simply creating large tableaux, contemporary artists need to be able to manifest in multiple ways in order to be successful in the current art world milieu.” Articles about how collage artists work bigger frequently appear in the magazine. One way to work bigger is to make a print of a smaller collage. It can be really something to see one’s work scaled up.

The Big Print Fundraiser runs from 15 August through 31 October 2026.
We offer two donation and shipping options:
- For a minimum donation of $50, we will print one of your collages as large as possible on a 24″x36″ sheet of paper. Your print will be folded and shipped flat.
- For a minimum donation of $100, we will print one of your collages as large as possible on a 24″x36″ sheet of paper. Your print will be rolled and shipped in a cardboard tube.
Your donation will support Kolaj Institute Gallery and the programs we operate to raise collage’s standing in the art world. We support artists, curators, and writers who seek to study, document, and disseminate ideas that deepen our understanding of collage as a medium, a genre, a community, and a 21st-century movement. These programs include maintaining archives, a library, and directories of the collage community; publishing books, journals, and magazines; organizing exhibitions in our gallery; offering residencies, workshops, and labs for professional artists; and presenting workshops and events for the community.
JURIED EXHIBITION OPPORTUNITY
All images submitted to the Big Print Fundraiser will also be considered for a juried exhibition at Kolaj Institute. Ten works will be selected and printed by Kolaj Institute for display in the stairwell leading to Kolaj Institute Gallery through June 30, 2027. Selected artists will be notified. No original artwork or additional exhibition print will be required from the artist.
HERE’S THE FINE PRINT
Images must be submitted by November 15, 2026, in JPG format and should be at least 3,450 pixels wide or 5,100 pixels high. We will print your image as-is, centered and as large as possible on a 24″x36″ sheet of paper. If your image is smaller than the recommended dimensions, we will print it as large as its resolution allows and will not request a replacement file.
With a minimum donation of $50, your print will be folded and shipped flat within the United States or Canada. With a minimum donation of $75, your print will be rolled and shipped in a cardboard tube within the United States or Canada.
International donors should select the appropriate international donation level: $70 for a print folded and shipped flat or $150 for a print rolled and shipped in a cardboard tube. International shipping is included in these donation levels. Recipients are responsible for any customs duties, VAT, import taxes, or other fees assessed by the destination country. International delivery times vary, and Kolaj Institute cannot guarantee a delivery date.
After donating, you will receive an acknowledgement with complete file-submission instructions. We may share an image of your print on social media. Limit one print per donor. If you would like to support Kolaj Institute without receiving a BIG PRINT, please follow the instructions in your acknowledgement.
